Lately I've been walking the girls separately. It's been going really well. I'm finding that I really enjoy individual time with each dog. I'm going to have to do this more often. I think it's important that each dog get out separately. It's really interesting seeing each of their individual personalities without the other one influencing it. We haven't had any incidents of reactivity, either! When I first leave the house, the dog that gets left behind is kind of sad but when we get back that dog is happy to see us and ready to leave for their turn.
It's National Walk Your Dog Celebration Week!! Are you walking your dog this week?
Aww... adorable pose!

I wish I had time in morning during the week for separate walks . . . Will have to do it more on the weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to walk them separately! I do that occasionally, but it's usually done for training purposes. The fluffies have different areas they need to work on so individual walks allow us to accomplish that. I have to leave the other with a stuffed Kong so they don't get too upset ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, same here!! With Zoe I have to work on her focus around prey animals and Phoenix I have to work on her problem with other dogs. Last weekend they went together because my husband was off and was able to help. :D
DeleteHave a great walkie!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that they enjoy their separate walks what a great idea and cute pictures! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, hope you enjoyed your walk!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty pose and photo. When I was growing up we had 3 dogs at one point - the walks could get pretty chaotic. This is the only time in my life where I've only had one dog and I can see the benefits at least when it comes to walking lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, for sure!! They will sometimes feed off each other and since walking them separately I haven't had any reactivity issues from Phoenix. It's so weird!
DeleteYou're so good to make time to walk your girls separately :) I know Asher would benefit from some individual time with me but it just doesn't seem to happen.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea. Its hard to find the time, but agree you get to see their uniqueness and bond with them in a completely different way!
ReplyDeleteI love individual walk times too.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to take them all out, but the one on one time I think makes our pups feel special!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Zoe always looks so superior lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she's a better poser. :D Also, slightly smarter. Haha!
DeleteWith three of us and our age spread, 1, 8. 12, we rarely walk all together. Usually one gets alone walk or run time with Mom and the other two walk together. Since we walk 2-3 times a day, we all get alone turns and get to walk with a different sister. It adds variety to walking for sure. The only downside is it takes a lot longer for Mom to do everything double, but she likes the extra workout.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!! I like the extra workout, too!! :D
DeleteI agree! Although I don't knock two birds out with one stone, I really enjoy walking them separately - it's not only easier to work on training, but gives me one on one time with them and a break from each other ;).
ReplyDeleteYep! For sure! I wish I had taken the time to do this when I first got Phoenix. I always walked them together and we hardly did separate activities and now Zoe has some anxiety when I take Phoenix away and she stays home. Just one more thing to work on. LOL
DeleteMr. N is always deeply offended whenever I leave the house without him. He was especially offended whenever I took our former foster dog for walks without him.
ReplyDeleteOur dogs are used to having separate morning exercise, and I think it's great for them. They both behave quite differently when they're together than when they're individuals.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the days you can spend time with each of your pups! (that's the hard part - finding the time to spend with each one separately!)
So cute!! She looks sooo happy!
