Isle of the Dogs Review & Giveaway

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic day! Today we have a super cool review and giveaway to share with you! I was so excited when Isle of the Dogs contacted me and asked me to try out some of their products. I was a groomer for more than 13 years and I first discovered IOD when I groomed at a vet clinic. Since then I've used their products pretty frequently on my own pets with fantastic results.

Isle of the Dogs story begins with a woman named Becky Rao. An owner of champion Brittany Spaniels, Becky always knew that a beautiful, healthy coat was the ultimate advantage in the extremely competitive world of show dogs. Show dogs need to be washed often, so her challenge was to find a product that would cleanse the coat without damaging it.

Becky had heard the story of a dog named Lucy, who was a west highland white terrier and had lost 90% of her hair due to a skin condition that even her veterinarian couldn't diagnose. However, her coat was remarkably restored thanks to a concoction that her groomer, David Grimes, came up with. The treatment included evening primrose oil, royal jelly and even a splash of eau de cologne, had a nearly bald Lucy fully coated in soft, shiny fur in around 5 weeks.

Becky incorporated this formula into her grooming regimen for her own show dogs leading to great accolades on the professional show dog circuit. Becky and her husband Kailas decided to start their own business and named it Isle of the Dogs. Today their business features a full line of natural grooming products, nutritional superior treats and supplements. All of their products are sourced in the USA.

MUD!

We live in Oregon and during the rainy season, which this past year has been nearly 5 months straight, things get very muddy and gross. Zoe and Phoenix still need exercise, so when we go hiking, they tend to get extremely dirty. I don't do dirty, stinky dogs. They get washed as soon as we get back. It's great to have products available that clean them well but don't dry their skin out or cause any irritation. Isle of the Dogs has been a lifesaver!

Silky Oatmeal shampoo is a mild and gentle shampoo that will help create a soft and silky feel to the coat. It can be used on any breed or coat type, and has the benefits of oatmeal and jojoba, which help soothe dry skin.  Silky Oatmeal shampoo is sulfate and paraben free.

Silky Oatmeal Conditioner is a deeply penetrating product that was designed to moisturize the coat for a soft, silky smooth look and feel.  Using this conditioner helps to loosen up the old, shedding hair that gets caught up in the coat. It helps make the brushing process much easier and reduces tangles. This conditioner is also sulfate and paraben free.

I've used Isle of the Dog's Oatmeal Shampoo and Conditioner for years and I've had great results. Their coats always come out so soft and it helps to remove the extra shedding hair. This shampoo and conditioner does have a pretty strong perfume smell when you're applying it, which is the only downside, if you're sensitive to perfume or other smells. The shampoo and conditioner rinse out well and the perfume smell is a lot lighter when the coat is completely dry.

Coco Clean De-Shed Shampoo is a custom formulation that reduces excessive shedding, while maintaining a clean and healthy coat. Coco Clean shampoo is soap-free, sulfate free, paraben free and is infused with coconut oil.

Coco Clean Brush Spray Depending on the hair type, in order to prevent hair damage, it's important to avoid brushing a dry coat. Brush spray helps reduce shedding, static and maintains a silky, healthy coat that stays cleaner, longer.  Blended with coconut oil to help improve overall skin and coat condition.  Also features ExtenScent, a natural odor-neutralizing complex that extends freshness and keeps dogs smelling better, longer.

I think I'm in love with the Coco Clean De-Shed Shampoo! I also really like the Brush Spray and generally, I am not a fan of leave-in products but this one is growing on me! The De-Shed shampoo is amazing. Zoe tends to be a shedding beast around twice a year and this combination of products has really helped! I also tried the shampoo on my cat, who sheds a ton, and it did an amazing job removing her excess hair! It's nice to find a product that is gentle enough to use on cats, as they can be sensitive to things.

I wish I had some of this Brush Spray when I lived in Nevada! In the desert there's a lot of static cling problems! The Brush Spray is the first leave-in product that I've ever really liked. It's hard to find a leave-in pet product that does not leave some sort of film or greasy feel to the coat. This one does not do that and I'm very happy with it. I like to use the Brush Spray in between baths to freshen them up and whenever I'm going to do any heavy brushing or de-shedding.

I'm so excited by the Coco Clean products that we are going to be partnering with Isle of the Dogs and hosting a giveaway. The details will be at the bottom of the review.

Isle of the Dog also offers a variety of healthy treats and supplements!

Skin - Soft and Chewy Treats - featuring flaxseed and kiwi. A softer, chewier treat that helps to condition, moisturize, and improve overall skin health. Dogs shouldn’t itch or scratch any more than we do. While there can be many causes of dry, flaky skin, the first place to look into is what we feed our dogs. To promote healthy skin and thick, shiny hair, Isle of the Dogs have combined whole flaxseeds with kiwi fruit with added cherries and apples to enhance the sweetness. All the benefits of a fresh-from-the-farm diet, rich in nutrients and sun soaked fruits, in one delicious bite.

Guilt-Free 100% Natural Baked Treats - featuring Pumpkin and Sweet Potatoes. Isle of the Dogs' guilt-free treat is gluten-free and sugar-free, so you can be guilt-free when spoiling your dog. Cinnamon has been added to this biscuit to bring even more benefits. Cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar and increase the body’s ability to use insulin, aiding at-risk and diabetic dogs. It also helps ease arthritis pain, helps improve brain function, as well as helping to boost energy, vitality, and circulation. Sweet potatoes and pumpkin serve as great sources of fiber.

Both Zoe and Phoenix really enjoyed these treats! I really like that they are made from all natural ingredients that are sourced in the USA.

Overall I am very impressed with all of the items that were sent to me by Isle of the Dogs and I would highly recommend checking their products out!

Do your dogs shed a lot? Do you groom them yourself and how often?

We really liked the Coco Clean products and I would like to give one of our lucky readers a chance to try them.

The giveaway will be open to US residents age 18 or older. Please see the giveaway widget for the full rules and regulations.

SPIKE Dog Treats Review & Giveaway

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic week! We are super excited because I have a new treat review to share with you! I was recently asked by Petcurean if Zoe and Phee would like to try their Spike treats. I've heard great things about Petcurean before so I knew the girls would be excited to try their treats.

Petcurean is a fantastic company where they create premium quality, nutrient-rich food for both dogs and cats. They also offer a selection of all natural treats as well! The company was started when two good friends got together and decided to open a small family owned operation in Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. They were driven by the idea that pets deserved better food that was made with the same love and care as we put into preparing meals for our own families.

Spike Dog Treats are made with premium quality meat proteins, anti-oxidants and “superfoods” like chia, pomegranate and kale, all lovingly prepared by your friends at Petcurean, who promise you that SPIKE contains only all natural ingredients. Their treats do not conatin any by-products, growth hormones, artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.

SPIKE Grain Free Venison Jerky treats are made using premium quality, grass-fed venison and all natural ingredients. Spike Jerky treats contain superfoods chia, pomegranate and kale which makes them nutrient-rich, high in fibre and packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants!

Ingredients: Venison, pumpkin, molasses, whole chia seeds, pomegranate, kale, mixed tocopherols  (a source of Vitamin E).

SPIKE Grain Free Turkey Jerky treats are made using premium quality, cage-free turkey and all natural ingredients.  Just like the venison treats, the turkey jerky also contain superfoods chia, pomegranate and kale which makes them nutrient-rich, high in fibre and packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Ingredients: Turkey, pumpkin, molasses, whole chia seeds, pomegranate, kale, mixed tocopherols (a source of Vitamin E).

Zoe and Phoenix both loved these treats! They were super excited to try them. They are a jerky-like consistency but are easy to break apart into smaller pieces with minimal crumbling. Both of my dogs considered these to be high value and I will be breaking them up and using them for training. I would definitely get these again and I would recommend checking them out!

ZoePhee was provided with two bags of Spike Jerky Treats to try in exchange for an honest review. We were not monetarily compensated. All opinions are my own. Petcurean is not responsible for the content of this blog post.

ZoePhee is partnering with Petcurean and hosting a giveaway! One of our lucky readers from the US will receive two bags of random Spike Jerky Treats! Grandma Lucy's Pet Food & Treats Review & Giveaway!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic day! We are super excited because we have a new review to share with you. We were asked by Grandma Lucy's to review some of their treats and do a giveaway!

Grandma Lucy's is a fantastic family owned and operated business that started around 16 years ago when Lucy, the owner's 11 year old English Cocker Spaniel, became extremely picky about what she would eat. She had developed food allergies that prevented her from eating just any treat. They tried a lot of treats on the market but Lucy wouldn't eat any of them. After doing a lot of research and numerous conversations with veterinarians and pet nutritionists, they began to home cook Lucy’s meals and treats. Surprisingly for a dog that had become very picky, she loved her home cooked meals and treats. The next step seemed natural, they wanted to be able to share their healthy food and treats with other pet owners!

Grandma Lucy’s was one of the first companies to introduce 100% human-grade pet treats to the pet food market! The company uses only human-grade ingredients from trusted restaurant suppliers, most of their meat is sourced in the USA and there are no ingredients from China. If it is not good enough for human’s to eat, it will never be included in their food or treats – Grandma Lucy’s pets eat better than people!

Grandma Lucy's "nose-licking" good freeze dried Chicken Singles is the first treat that the girls tried! Phoenix was super excited about them and couldn't wait! These treats are a single ingredient treat. They are made from 100% USA sourced chicken. They can be fed to both dogs and cats, which is a huge plus for me since we have both!

If your dog has a problem with chicken, the singles line has other proteins which include: Liver, Pork, Ocean White Fish, Tuna and Sweet Potatoes.

100% USA sourced Chicken
Hormone and Antibiotic-Free
Single Protein Source
No By-Products or Preservatives
All Natural
Grain-Free
GMO-Free
Made in California

Both Zoe and Phoencix really liked these treats! They consider them to be high value and they worked really hard to get them. These treats would make an excellent training treat, they break up easily. Since they are freeze dried there was a little bit of crumbling but it didn't make too big of a mess.

The next treats we tried are the oven baked Organic Banana & Sweet Potato these treats are made with 100% USDA certified organic, human-quality ingredients in Grandma Lucy's bakery! Bananas are high in potassium making them good for the heart, kidneys, bones and nervous system. Sweet Potatoes are a great source of dietary fiber, rich in potassium, and high in antioxidants. They are also an excellent source of Beta Carotene, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. There are no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners and the treats are free of hydrogenated oils and trans fats

They also offer: Pumpkin, Blueberry, Cranberry, Apple, Peach and Coconut in their organic oven baked line.

Ingredients: Organic Wheat Flour, Organic Dehydrated Cane Juice, Organic Sunflower and/or Organic Canola Oil and/or Organic Palm Oil, Organic Brown Sugar, Organic Cane Juice Syrup, Organic Banana Powder, Organic Sweet Potato Powder, Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Cinnamon, Soy Lecithin.

The girls really loved these treats too! These treats kind of remind me of animal crackers. They smell really good and break apart easily. There was some crumbling with them but it didn't bother me. I could use these as a bedtime treat or even for rewarding simple trained behaviors.

Overall the girls liked both of the treats we tried from Grandma Lucy's. I would definitely try other flavors and I would get these again! We would recommend checking Grandma Lucy's out and giving them a try with your pets!

ZoePhee is partnering with Grandma Lucy's and hosting a giveaway! One of our lucky readers from the US will receive the treats we tried! Enter by following the directions on the giveaway widget. The giveaway is open to residents in the US age 18 or older. I will run the giveaway for about a week and I will contact the randomly selected winner by email.

Chewy has amazing customer service and their shipping is incredibly fast. We received our treats as part of the chewy.com blogger program in exchange for an honest review.

Dogs thrive on variety, Zoe and Phoenix love trying new treats and they were so excited when we received this month's package from chewy.com! This month we got a package of Fromm Four-Star Nutrionals Grain-Free Salmon with Sweet Potato dog treats. These treats are made with wild caught salmon and yummy sweet potato! They are easy on the digestive system and totally delicious! One of my favorite things about Fromm is that they offer dogs a wide selection of food and treats, each carefully prepared in small, controlled batches using real meat, fish, farm-fresh produce and Wisconsin cheese. Their interchangeable recipes are formulated for all life stages and prepared with fresh ingredients delivered daily to Fromm's family facility! How neat is that?

  • Fresh, oven-baked treats made with wild salmon, a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins that not only keep your pup’s skin and coat healthy but also help with cognitive development!
  • Made without grains, a common allergy trigger for dogs
  • Contains fresh cranberries, green beans, carrots and other veggies loaded with antioxidants and vitamins for a delicious and nutritious treat you can feel great about feeding your pup
  • Perfect size for treating
  • Made with USDA-inspected ingredients in the USA

Ingredients Include: Wild Salmon, Pea Flour, Potato Flour, Tapioca, Whole Peas, Chicken Fat, Tomato Pomace, Fresh Cranberries, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Apples, Split Peas, Green Beans, Green Bell Peppers, Celery, Beets, Parsley, Lettuce, Watercress, Spinach.

The girls really liked these treats and they are a great size for my smaller dogs. I didn't feel like I needed to really break them up. I probably wouldn't use these as a training treat but I do think they are a great all around treat or I could use them for their "bed time biscuit". They don't have that awful fishy smell that some other salmon treats do and I would totally get these again.I would recommend checking them out!

High Protein Biscuits from Brothers Complete!

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic day! Today we are reviewing some awesome biscuits from one of my favorite companies: Brothers Complete. Brothers Complete is a small, family-owned company that makes a variety of different dog foods and treats. They cater to dogs who might suffer from food sensitivities. We did a review for Brothers Complete in the past and my dogs loved absolutely everything they sent us, so I was super excited when I was asked if my dogs would like to try their new high protein biscuits. Brothers Complete receives a 5 star rating on Dog Food Advisor and I highly recommend checking them out! We received our biscuits in exchange for an honest review.

Brothers Complete offers four varieties of biscuits: Lamb, Chicken, Turkey and Venison.

I really like that they offer different protein sources. It's definitely helpful if your pup has food sensitivity to be able to pick a protein that does not bother them. One of the awesome things about these new high protein biscuits is that they are balanced and a complete source of nutrition. These biscuits are high quality, healthy and my dogs think they are delicious!

These biscuits do not contain any corn, wheat, grain, white and sweet potatoes, soy or sugar. They are full of high quality, animal sourced protein.

Phoenix tries the lamb biscuits!

Zoe tries the turkey biscuits!

Brothers Complete has a unique formula, the biscuits contain up to four times the protein of regular treats and because they are completely balanced they are great for dogs who have sensitive GI tracts. These biscuits are made from the same quality ingredients that are in the Brothers Complete diets so I don't have to worry about my dogs eating junk food for treats. They are healthy but have the same great taste that my dogs love! I think it's really wonderful that Brothers Complete has gone to such lengths to make sure their treats agree with all dogs, especially those who have specific dietary requirements or sensitive systems.

"Waiting sucks! Can I eat these yet!?"

Both of my dogs love these biscuits! Zoe was actually a little sad that I was making her wait to eat them for photos! It was really hard to get any pictures of them eating these because they loved them so much! The biscuits are a great size, smell good, break apart easily and are made with super high quality ingredients. You can't go wrong with that! I would totally get these again.

I was really impressed with Brothers Complete the last time I worked with them and I still feel the same way! They are an awesome company and I always enjoy my time with them. They have top notch customer service and high quality products. I would highly recommend checking them out!

Wellness Pure Rewards - Venison Jerky Dog Treats #ChewyInfluencer

Hi everyone and welcome to our monthly chewy.com review! Chewy.com is an awesome company that ships all of your favorite pet products right to your door! They have amazing customer service and their shipping is incredibly fast. They are one of our favorite companies! We received our treats as part of the chewy.com blogger program in exchange for an honest review.

Today we are reviewing Wellness Pure Rewards Venison Jerky. Wellness treats are always a huge hit here so the girls were pretty excited to get them!

Wellness Pure Rewards are a highly flavorful, protein-packed jerky treat. They offer a variety of different proteins including: Venison, Beef, Turkey, Chicken & Lamb, Venison & Salmon, Turkey & Salmon. These treats are more than 90% meat! These are grain-free and there are no corn or soy products in them, either. These treats are awesome for training and would be great for dogs who have tummy issues because they have limited ingredients.

Ingredients: Venison, Dried Chicory Root, Cultured Whey, Salt, Lecithin, Garlic, Mixed Tocopherols (a natural preservative)

Like I said above, my dogs are huge fans of Wellness and these treats were definitely a hit. These treats are a bit bigger than what I generally like for a training treat but they are easily torn into smaller pieces and they are also pretty easy to cut up, too. Both of my dogs consider these to be high value and I even used them to teach Phoenix a new trick! I will also be using them in our training classes.

I would recommend checking out Wellness Pure Rewards! We will definitely be getting these again!

Wonders, Pure Fish Treats from The Honest Kitchen

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having an awesome day! Today I have a quick review for you on the Wonders, Pure Fish Treats from The Honest Kitchen! The Honest Kitchen is one of our favorite brands and they make high quality food and treats for both dogs and cats. We received our Wonders treats in exchange for an honest review.

The Wonders Treats are a single ingredient grain-free treat of fish skins from wild caught Pollock. They can be fed to both dogs and cats! Wonders are bite sized but they are chewy so the last a little longer than a regular treat. They are about 4 calories per treat and are high in protein but low in fat.

Ingredients: Dehydrated Pollock

I was actually pretty surprised when the Wonders were not an instant hit. Both of my dogs were pretty confused with what to do with them but I did eventually get both dogs to eat them. We initially tried these treats outside because I read another review about how they were pretty stinky. She was definitely right, they are very stinky! Maybe the girls were just a little nervous out there. I'm not really sure. They both did eat them when we tried inside though but they were still pretty lackluster about it. It could just be that fish isn't really their thing and that's okay!

The Honest Kitchen has lots of goodies that are all 100% human grade, my dogs have always loved their food and treas and I would recommend checking them out!

ZoePhee was provided with a box of Wonders from The Honest Kitchen in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and THK is not responsible for the content of this blog post.

Zuke's (2 calorie) Skinny Bakes Review & Giveaway!

If you've been reading my blog for a while you will know that I do a lot of dog training. I'm always looking for new training treats! One of the things that's important to me is finding treats that are small and low in calories because we go through so many of them. I do not want my dogs getting fat from training so imagine how thrilled I was when I found out that Zuke's has a new line of training treats!

Skinny Bakes are a crunchy low calorie training treat that packs a nutritious punch. You can get the Skinny Bakes in 2, 5, 10 or 20 calories and they would make the perfect gift for any dog for Valentine's Day!

We decided to go with the 2 calorie ones and we got them in exchange for an honest review.

There are three different flavors in the 2 calorie Skinny Bakes line: Yogurt & Vanilla, Yogurt & Honey, Yogurt & Maple Syrup.

Brown rice, barley and rice bran plus the protein of yogurt baked into each of these treats. They are made in the USA and do not contain any wheat, corn or soy.

The treats are tiny! Which I was super excited about. The smaller they are the better for training. Zoe demonstrates the small size by balancing one on her nose.

Can we have more?

The girls absolutely love the Skinny Bakes and they were so excited to have them. I really like that they are only 2 calories per treat which means I can use a lot of them without having to worry about the dogs gaining weight. The treats are not messy, although they can get a little sticky if they get moist. If you saw my video of Phoenix Frisbee Flipping the treat I was using after each flip was the Skinny Bakes! (I like to reward with both food and toys to keep things interesting.)

I would definitely recommend checking out Zuke's Skinny Bakes and we will definitely be getting these again!

Wild Pursuit Venison Lung Treats from Natural Balance!

Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung

Zoe is feeling the call of the wild with Natural Balance Wild Pursuit!

Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung

Today we are reviewing Wild Pursuit "Venison Lung Bites"! These are a single ingredient dehydrated treat that is sourced from New Zealand.

Ingredients: 100% New Zealand dehydrated venison lung

These treats are grain and gluten free, high in protein and around 8 calories per treat. There are no artificial colors or flavors and no preservatives in them.

Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung

Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung

Zoe and Phoenix both went wild for these treats. Zoe couldn't wait for me to change the camera settings before she tried these, so the photos are blurry. Oops.

Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung

My only complaint with these treats is that they don't break up easily. The chunks are huge and I had to bring in "man power" to break and cut them up. Luckily my husband doesn't mind helping too much. Otherwise these treats are awesome! The dogs love them and consider them to be very high value. I'm going to use the rest of them for training.

I would recommend checking out Natural Balance Wild Pursuit Venison Lung Bites! We will definitely get these again.
