Tropiclean Fresh Breath Plus Hip & Joint is a safe, natural additive you squirt in your dog or cat's  water bowl each time you fill the bowl. It removes plaque and tartar, eliminates harmful bacteria in the mouth, and gives your pet 12 hours of fresh breath!

From past blog posts, you all know how passionate I am about pet dental care. I brush my dog's teeth every day and try to do the cat's teeth frequently. Without proper dental care 70% of dogs and cats will show signs of dental disease by age three! Oral disease can eventually lead to tooth loss and other health problems and it's so important to take care of them.

I love the idea of having a water additive to help me with their dental care. It's hard to chase down the cats for teeth brushing. They are actually pretty bad about it and struggle so I like the idea that something is still being done for them even when I can't get to it.

The Fresh Breath + Hip & Joint ingredients include: Purified water, Citric Acid, Cytlpyridinium, Chlorophylin, Glycerine, Potassium Sorbate, Glucosamine and Green Tea Leaf Extract. It comes in two different sizes: 16 oz and 33.8 oz and is reasonably priced.

This water additive has glucosamine in it which promotes healthy hips and joints. My dogs don't currently have any problems but they are very active and I feel supplementing them is helpful. Also, one of our cats is a bobtail and generally those kind of cats can have issues with their joints and backs as they age so supplementing her is a good idea, too.

When I first put the additive in the water, Phoenix was kind of suspicious about it. The directions call for one cap full for every 16oz of water. You put it in every time you refill the water bowl. It's very easy to do. Since Phoenix didn't really like it at first, I reduced the dosage to a half a cap full and as she got used to it we worked our way up to the full dose.

 

Zoe actually liked the product so much that she was licking it out of the bottle when I opened it for her to smell.

 

The water additive also came with a dental chew. I broke it in half and the girls loved it.

We went on a trip to Portland and were gone for four days, during that time I did not brush the girls teeth or use the water additive. So by the time we got home their breath was a bit doggie and not as fresh as I was used to. As soon as I filled their water bowl and added the Tropiclean Fresth Breath they drank some and after a short time their breath was back to that fresh smell I was used to.

Our cats didn't mind it, either and didn't even notice there was something else in their water. Sometimes cats can be finicky with water additives so you do have to keep an eye on them and make sure they are still drinking water. Mine did not have a problem with this product. 

I do not believe that using a water additive is a substitute for brushing their teeth. I still think it's extremely important to regularly brush but the water additive is a great addition to our dental routine. I would definitely buy this product in the future.
