Happy New Years Eve!!

Phoenix

Happy New Years Eve, everyone!! I hope everyone has a fun and safe time!

Zoe

New Years Eve and The Fourth of July tend to be two of the worst days for us. Zoe is very noise phobic and she's been having a rough time anyways because there's been a lot of construction work happening on our apartment building. Needless to say, I'm not really looking forward to any more bangs. We've tried all kinds of remedies to help her over the years and nothing has helped, not even sedatives from the vet. So we will be staying home to keep an eye on her. Since this is our first year at our new complex, I'm not sure how bad it will be. I'm probably going to put a loud movie on and some fans. Hopefully that will be enough! I'll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow!

Anyways, we took down the tree and I set up the lights trying for a "firework effect" and I think it turned out pretty cool. Below are a few of my favorites!

See you next year! :D

  1. Love the photos with that background. No fireworks here...it is always too cold, no one wants to be outside doing that, but we don't mind them anyway. Hope your New Year's Eve isn't too scary for you.

  2. Hi Y'all!

We go to the high country for most holidays and we are not close enough to any celebrations to hear fireworks. Gunshots and hunters, no fireworks.

Have a happy and safe 2015.

  7. Poor thing. It must be so distressing for her.

We don't see the point of fireworks. They're a nuisance and it's not fair on animals.

Wishing you a Happy New Year :)

  9. Has Zoe tried a Thundershirt? I'll probably be wearing mine tonight, they do help a lot. We had carpet installed downstairs yesterday, the banging really got to me so mom put it on then also. Love Dolly

    1. Yep! We've tried everything. :) The thundershirt does help Phoenix with her anxiety issues but not Zoe. I think Zoe's phobia is just too extreme. I think the next thing we will end up doing is probably benzos from the vet.

  10. That is a cool effect; the photos turned out awesome. I hope it's not too loud tonight but you never know. We're not a big fan of loud noises here either. Let's hope everyone just keeps it down tonight (yeah, that's not going to happen...) Wishing you a happy new year!

  11. I'm sorry you guys don't like all the noise from the fireworks. Humans are crazy about them. Hopefully it won't be too loud.

  12. Great pictures! Happy New Year to you & your girls. Thankfully, we are far enough away from where they shoot the fireworks off downtown.

  16. Good luck, guys! Very good of you to stay home with the pups! My Mama and Papa are staying home with me tonight, too, but we gotta take care of Mama more so cause she's not feeling well. Anyway I feel better with everyone home! Have a Happy and Safe New Year's Eve! *wags* - Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com

  17. I hope that it is quiet in your new complex. I'm sorry that Zoe is noise phobic. That is the one phobia that Shyla doesn't have, except when we're in the bustle of town.

Your photos are just fabulous. You are inspiring me that I would like to try a photoshoot like that some day. You do a great job getting sharp focus on the girls but soft focus on the lights. Love it!

Happy New Year! We are staying home tonight - our 14% grade mountain road is icy. No way we're driving on it tonight!

  18. Harley's crossing both sets of paws that your new complex is relatively quiet tonight! Happy New Year from Harley and family - WOOF!

  19. The photos are super cute :-) I hope you ended up having a somewhat relaxing night with your pack! Maybe try playing some calming piano tunes ~ I've found several great options on YouTube. We play them for our pups when there's loud noises outside. Happy New Year!

  20. LOVE the photos!! We have issues with LadyBug and fireworks...and thunder...and high winds...she is a rescue. I don't know what her background is but I have tried everything except the Thundershirt. I think that will be next on the list! xo Chloe and LadyBug
