2 Hounds Design Dog Collars Review

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great day! Today I have a review for you on two gorgeous collars from 2 Hounds Design! This is my last review for 2014! We received our collars in exchange for an honest review.

About 2 Hounds Design:

2 Hounds Design is a shop that offers Buckle Collars, Martingale Collars, Velvet Leashes and Freedom No Pull Harnesses! They also offer several other accessories as well. The collars are all custom made with high quality designer fabrics that are also extremely comfortable and lined with satin. All of the collars, leashes and harnesses are made in the USA with careful attention to safety, functionality and comfort.

The owner of 2 Hounds Design, a fellow collar addict, began her journey in 2003 when she needed an outlet for her creative energy and she wanted to find special collars for her two retired racing greyhounds. What was once a one woman show has now turned into a team effort! The team and owner have worked long and hard to perfect the art of collar making. They only use premium hardware, first quality fabrics, and all of the collars available are lined with a super soft satin lining. The team spends a great deal of time searching and establishing relationships with fabric and ribbon dealers from all over the world. From Hand loomed Laotian Silk to French Jacquard Ribbon to Asian Silk Brocades, and even Scalamandre Silks, the owner chooses each fabric or ribbon herself to create a stunning selection of dog collars!

2 Hounds Designs also gives back to the community! They donate products for fundraisers and  have hosted several programs where a percentage of profits from a particular collar collection were given to rescue groups. They love hosting auctions to help raise money for rescues. In the 10 years that they have been in business, they have helped raise more than $500,000 for rescue groups all over the world!! I think it's awesome that they do so much to help out rescues and it's just one more reason to support their business!

We received two buckle collars from the Asian Silk Line of dog collars. The first thing I noticed was how pretty they are! They are absolutely gorgeous. I love the print on them and they are very shiny! They also have a very durable feel to them but they are also soft! I love that they are lined with satin because my dogs comfort is very important to me!

More about the collars:
  • Starts with a strong but soft webbing core in a width to match the collar width
  • Encloses the webbing entirely in either crepe- or flannel-backed satin for body and softness on the neck
  • Is securely sewn using industrial strength nylon thread on industrial sewing machines
  • Finished with top-of-the-line hardware, including welded d-rings
  • Made in the USA

Here are some pictures of the girls wearing their new collars:

I chose the Fuschia Cherry Blossom collar for Zoe!

For Phoenix, her collar is Lavish Burgundy.

You can definitely tell that these collars are made from high quality fabrics! They are designer collars and with that being said, they are not "every day, lets go roll in the mud, tag collars". Unless you have a dog that isn't getting dirty or playing rough all the time. I would not let my dogs wear these out to the big park where they are running around in the black berry bushes and wading through mud! These are the collars I would choose for photo shoots, special occasions/events and trips to places where they won't be getting too dirty. They have other collars that they wear to the dog park and I'm already used to trading their collars out. 2 Hounds Design actually has a whole section "What is Normal Wear and Tear" explaining more about this on their website. I really like their analogy about how you wouldn't wear a ball gown while you're gardening.

The collars are washable, you can either wash them by hand or in a lingerie bag in the washing machine. They should be allowed to air dry.

The collars were custom sewn to my specifications, with that being said, it did take a while for us to get them. They usually have orders shipped out within 10-14 days, though!

Overall, I am very happy with our collars and with the customer service! The collars are gorgeous and very comfortable for my dogs to wear. The fabrics and hardware are very high quality. I'm sure they will last us for many years to come. I really like that 2 Hounds Design gives back to the community, too!! I would highly recommend checking them out!

ZoePhee was provided with 2 buckle collars in exchange for an honest review. We were not monetarily compensated and I only share information that I feel is relevant to my readers. 2 Hounds Design is not responsible for the contents of this blog post.

We are joining the Monday Mischief Blog Hop! Thank you so much to the hosts!

    1. Thanks! Me too!! Which is why they won't be wearing them out to the one park that is really muddy. :D They could probably take it but I don't want to risk it and I like having at least one nice set of collars for them to wear to special events and whatnot. Zoe has another one but we never got around to getting Phoenix one so these will be perfect.

  8. Those are very pretty collars. I am afraid they would not be at all practical for brown dawgs. I like that they can be washed though. That is a nice feature.
