Hey everyone!! Happy Friday! I hope you're all having a great day!
It was bath day at our house and I have a review for you on a couple of different products from BioGroom! BioGroom sent us two different shampoos, one for dogs and one for cats, a no-rinse waterless shampoo for cats and some ear cleaner for dogs. I was pretty excited for the chance to try these products as I have
heard good things about the company. I did not receive monetary
compensation for this review but I did get the products for free in
exchange for an honest review.
I bathe my dogs about every two weeks or as needed. I never go more than a month without bathing them, though! They are allowed on furniture and in bed so I prefer fresh and clean pups.
My cats, I groom as well. The cats are washed every other month or as needed. Pandora has medium length hair and it has a similar texture as bunny fur. If she is not washed her hair will stand up on end and she looks like Sonic the Hedgehog. Hurley generally has an oily coat and looks gross if he doesn't get a bath once in a while. Lilly's coat is very thick and she likes to wander around on top of the kitchen cupboards so she will get dusty and oily, too. Both of my shorthaired cats shed like crazy so grooming is pretty important or they get hairballs.
I know you all are probably thinking I'm crazy for washing cats and that I must have scars and battle wounds but they are actually pretty easy to do. They usually complain about it and try to escape but they never get aggressive and they never bite or scratch. I will even blow dry them and it's no big deal. They are used to it. Lilly generally has a lot of Cattitude, more than the average cat but
she is actually easier to deal with than the other two for baths! Grooming happens when your human is a professional groomer. It's a thing and they deal with it.
If you want to groom your own cat (or dog) and would like some advice feel free to email me!

Dog Portion of the Review:
About the Indulge Shampoo:
Indulge Shampoo is a mild sulfate-free shampoo with 100% pure Argan Oil. The Argan oil is deeply nourishing and gives the coat a healthy sheen. The shampoo also contains absorbable soy protein that helps to build body and strength. This shampoo is non-irritating and won't strip the coat of natural oils. It does not contain any artificial thickeners. The shampoo lathers up really well and is thick and foamy but since it's free of residues it rinses very well. It took me half the time it usually does to rinse the girls! The shampoo is also safe for puppies and kittens. It is biodegradable and pH balanced. It can be used full strength or diluted 4:1 (4 parts water, 1 part shampoo).
Ingredients: Purified Water, Cleansers derived from regrowable and 100% biodegradable source of Coconut Oil, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocamide DIPA, Cocoamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Bishydroxyethyl Dihydroxpropyl Stearammonium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Argan Oil, Vegatable Glycerin, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, MIT
Initially when I opened the shampoo, I thought the smell was a bit overwhelming but I am more sensitive to scents than most people. The smell is definitely a "clean" "soap" scent. I decided to dilute it and once it was diluted the smell wasn't as strong. It was way more pleasant and my bathroom had that awesome "freshly groomed, clean scent" that I really like.
I also think it's amazing how quickly the shampoo rinsed out and the dirt pretty much fell off of them! It saved me from a lot of scrubbing that I usually have to do. I did bathe them twice per my usual routine and it took half the time I usually spend. I didn't need to use any conditioner with this shampoo, either, since it has natural conditioners and doesn't strip the skin/coat of it's natural oils. Both girls smell fantastic and I really like the smell now! The shampoo didn't dry out my hands which is awesome because I've had that problem in the past with other brands.
Overall, I really liked this shampoo. It left the girls feeling very soft and their coats are so shiny! They were even dry faster than usual. The entire grooming process was cut in half, which is awesome because the girls are not that fond of it. Diluting it in my mixing bottle, I did four washes with it and I had 1/3 of it left over! I could of probably washed two more dogs with it and remember, I wash everyone twice!! That would be four more baths!
I would purchase this shampoo and I highly recommend checking it out.
About the Ear Cleaner Pads:
The ear cleaner pads help reduce ear odors while gently cleaning and drying the ear canal. They also help to reduce excess ear wax build up. They are non-oily and non sticky. There are 25 large pads included in the container.
Active Ingredients:
Boric Acid 0.80% Antibacterial
Salicylic Acid 0.20% Antisceptic Ear Cleaner
Inactive Ingredients: Water, isopropyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, eucalyptol.
This is another strong smelling item. The Ear Cleaning Pads smell like rubbing alcohol. They do get the job done and the smell did not linger on the dogs or on my skin. The pads are big enough that I could use half for one ear and the other half for the other ear, so one pad per dog. They don't have overly dirty ears, though. I like using ear cleaner after the bath, as it dries out the ear canal and helps prevent ear infections from any water that may have gotten down in there. The pads are pretty wet but you are supposed to squeeze some of the product from them into the ear canals.
I do like these and I would purchase them!
Sorry I cut her face off, it's hard to clean ears and take pictures!
Onto the Kitty Portion of this Review!
We were sent Silky Cat Shampoo and Klean Kitty No Rinse Shampoo.
Silky Cat is a baby-mild coconut oil base shampoo that conditions as it cleans. It is non-irritating and will not strip the natural oils from skin and coat. It highlights all colors and makes white sparkle. Contains lanolin to prevent dryness. The absorbable protein builds body and makes the coat shine. The coat dries smooth and is manageable and tangle-free. This is a wonderful benefit, especially if you have a cat like Pandora! Her coat resembles bunny fur and if she's not brushed properly after getting wet she will get tangles. The shampoo also helps to control body odors. It is pH balanced and rinses easily. This shampoo is also safe to use on kittens and you can even use it on puppies. The shampoo does not contain any parabens or artificial thickeners. It's also safe to use this with Topical Flea and Tick Treatments.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Cleansers derived from regrowable and 100% biodegradable source of Coconut Oil, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocamide DIPA, PEG-71 Lanolin, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Polysorbate 20, Lavendar Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, MIT.
Pandora all soapy.
Pandora, finished groom. I did blow dry her.
Lilly all soapy.
Hurley all soaped up.
Lilly and Hurley all done!
I washed all three of my cats in the Silky Cat Shampoo. The shampoo lathered really well and rinsed out easily. It has a moderate lavendar/soap scent. When I washed Lilly and Hurley all of their loose fur came out easily. Pandora dried very quickly, I did use a blow dryer on her and brushed as I was drying. Her coat dried straight and fluffy, just the way I like her. Hurley does not like being blow dried very much so I blew him out a bit and let hm dry naturally. He dried very quickly as well.
Lilly, I'm not sure what happened with her, if I just didn't rinse her well enough down to the skin (she does have the thickest coat of the three, and we have bad water pressure that I'm still getting used to) but after the bath she was quite itchy. The shampoo is supposed to be very gentle and non irritating and my other two cats were fine so I'm assuming it was my fault. After I realized there was a problem with Lilly, more than usual licking and some scratching going on, I put her back in the tub and rinsed her again. The second rinse, I did not notice any shampoo residue coming out but after she was dry she was fine. She got dry insanely fast which made me very happy.
All three cats are silky soft and smell very clean. The next time I use this shampoo, I think I will dilute it and see how Lilly does. I'm pretty sure the itching was an error on my part and I would get this shampoo again.
All of Lilly's loose fur slid right out,
which awesome because she doesn't appreciate being brushed!
About Klean Kitty No-Rinse Shampoo:
Klean Kitty Waterless Shampoo is a short-cut to a bath. It contains conditioners that leave the skin and coat looking and feeling its best. The shampoo contains no harsh chemicals, leaves no irritating residue, is pH balanced and mild. It does not contain any parabens or artificial thickeners and is safe to use this with Topical Flea and Tick Treatments.
Ingredients: Purified Water, cleansers derived from regrowable and 100% biodegradable sources of Corn, Coconut and Palm Kernel Oils, Sodium Coco Sulfate, Decyl Glucoside, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, PFG-75 Lanolin, Polysorbate 20, Chamomile, Lavendar Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, MIT, Blue 1, Red 33.
I used the Klean Kitty on the oily patch on Hurley's back.
Then I brushed it through the coat and let him dry.
Hurley all done!
I generally don't like Waterless Shampoos, after having a bad experience with one. It didn't really clean the coat and I had more of a mess than anything else. I also worry about leave in products on my cats because they lick themselves so much so I was kind of wary of trying this one.
I was pleasantly surprised with the Klean Kitty No-Rinse Shampoo. It actually did what it was supposed to and it's nice and mild. It did not irritate the skin and the coat was nice and soft after it dried. I would use this product again for spot cleaning.
Overall, I really liked the BioGroom products I received. The animals all smell really good and are soft and silky. I would purchase them and I recommend checking them out!
ZoePhee received products from BioGroom in exhange for an honest review. I was not monetarily compensated in any way. My reviews are always 100% honest and I only share information that I feel is relevant to my readers. BioGroom is not responsible for the content of this blog post.
We've never had baths like that...though the no-rinse shampoo might come in handy.

ReplyDeleteEveryone looks so nice and clean after their baths!
ReplyDeleteThe ear cleaning pads sounds interesting! I hadn't heard of those before.
We use a Bio-groom product when we go to shows. We rarely bathe our Chessies because they have an oily coat and you do not want to wash that out so a lot of times we use the conditioner diluted 3 or 4 to 1 and spray on the coat and wipe off about an hour before ring time. It helps the coat not smell and gives it a tiny bit of body. Of course sometimes we just use plain water too. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your cats just stand there for a bath!
