Salmon River & Mt Hood - Fit Dog Friday

Yesterday we took the girls for a new hike! We went to Salmon River Trail head in Welches, Oregon! I found this trail on my Pacific Northwest photography group and thought it would be fun. The trail had a ton of little waterfalls and streams to cross and lots of gorgeous scenery. It happens to run through and old growth forest.

Zoe was pretty excited to go hiking at a new place! I've mentioned on previous posts that she doesn't really like the camera when we are out in the world so sometimes I get funny faces from her.

The girls decided to check out this giant rock formation, here's their "mountain goat" impression!

They really liked this rock!

There's a few really cool spots overlooking the Salmon River.

My favorite part of the hike was this neat bridge! It's made of a tree log! Phoenix didn't like this bridge anymore than the suspension bridge at the other park but she did a lot better on this one!

Here's another shot of the bridge!

After our hike, we headed up to the bottom part of Mt. Hood.

The girls really liked playing in the snow! They didn't need jackets because it was really warm! It was around 60 degrees! They probably would of liked some sun glasses, though!

Zoe and Phoenix were both really intrigued by the ski lift! They also liked watching everyone sliding down the mountain.

We wandered a bit around Timberline Lodge. The lodge was beautiful!

After a bit of wandering around, the girls were ready to play in the snow again! Phoenix was happy to pose for me!

Zoe wasn't as happy to pose but she did it anyways!

When we got home, they went right to bed and didn't move until dinner time! It was so cute!

Happy Fit Dog Friday everyone!

  1. What a great adventure. Mom used to go to the mountains in shorts and a t-shirt when she lived in Tucson. It was warm, just happened to be snow on the ground.

  10. What a cool park! Barley likes to embrace her inner mountain goat any time we find rocks on our hikes, too. It makes me nervous, though!
