Open Farm "Ethically Raised & Sourced Dog Food"

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an awesome day! Today I have a product feature from an awesome company called Open Farm. Open Farm is Canadian based company that is family run and operated. At Open Farm they feel that the best ingredients are raised and grown by farmers who respect the animals under their care and the land they call home. They are first certified humane pet food! Certified Humane makes sure the animals are raised ethically and covers how the animals are fed, how they are handled and how much space they have. That means they don't use any meat that was produced from factory farming and the animals get to live natural lives with space! Certified Humane also covers the fish. All the fish in the Open Farm foods are caught fresh from the ocean.

I am really passionate about animal welfare and I was very excited when I was contacted about this food. I received my samples of the Open Farm dog food for free and I'm not being compensated to spread the word about Open Farm.

Open Farm currently has three different dog foods to select from. Each food is grain and by-product free. The food does not contain any artificial preservatives and it is also rigorously tested to make sure they are providing the best possible ingredients. Click on the link above for the ingredients list for each of the foods they offer.

Open Farm recipes do not contain any corn, wheat, soy or fillers and they offer potato free recipe options, too. All of the fruit and vegetables in the foods are grown locally. The food is formulated for all life stages and any size or breed of dog.

There are no ingredients from China in these foods.

Both girls really enjoyed the samples they received. They didn't have any adverse reactions to it, however, it was a small amount and it's kind of hard to tell how they will do on it with just the sample packs. I would love to get a bigger bag to test out and do a full review on. That being said, I love the idea of this company and that they only source from farmers who raise their animals ethically. If you are passionate about animal welfare like me I'd highly recommend checking this company and their food out.

ZoePhee was provided with a sample pack from Open Farms free of charge. All opinions are my own and as always product features and reviews are always 100% honest. Open Farms is not responsible for the content of this blog post.

Happy Tasty Tuesday everyone!

  2. Sounds like some fabulous food.

I have been sourcing my raw food from a local all-organic farm about an hour west of me. They take great care with their animals and I feel good about feeding my dogs cruelty free food. Plus, the nutrition and lack of toxins can't be beat!

  4. Chewy could probably clean out one of those pouches in one slurp! I do wish food sample bags were much bigger. I agree, it really isn't possible to tell how they'll do from that itty bitty sampling. I always feel silly considering a small 4 lb bag because it's so much more expensive per lb than the big bags!

  6. How does it smell? I'm always impressed when a dog food smells good. Like you can tell it has real meat in it.

    1. Each one smells the same and it's kind of a fishy type smell.. Probably because there's whitefish in all three. LOL Definitely a "fresh" smell, though. Not like stale kibble.

  10. First time hearing of this company but I love what they stand for. We try our best to only purchase ethically raised meat for ourselves but that is not an easy thing to find when it comes to dog products.

Thanks for the info - and really great pics as always!

    1. Hi 2browndawgs! Thanks for letting me know! I emailed them and they said they are in the process of updating their "locate a retailer" for the US which was probably why it wasn't working for you.

Currently they only have 200 retailers available but they are expanding.

      Their prices are:
      4.5 lbs bag: $21-23
      12 lbs bag: $43-46
      24 lbs bag: $75-79

      I hope that helps!

  13. It's hard enough finding food for humans that fit this requirement, I love they are expanding it to include pet food!
