Sorry, I know it's an old photo! I need new ones taken! |
Those of you who are facebook friends with me will already know this but I am so excited that I had to announce it here, too! I got a new job as a dog training assistant at a positive reinforcement focused training facility in Portland! I'm starting tonight! I'm going to be assisting the dog trainers with their classes! I don't really have words for how excited I truly am but this is one step closer for me to be working my dream job.
The new job is part time so it won't be affecting my blogging schedule at all. I will continue to have 5-6 posts a week with an occasionally Saturday post, too! :D
Happy Wordy Wednesday everyone!
Congrats and good luck!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you! It never really feels like work when we are loving what we are doing. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, what a FUN and exciting new venture. Isn't it great when you find something you enjoy AND get paid to do it? It takes the "work" aspect out of it. I work full time Monday to Friday at a stressful job but have had a part time pet sitting/dog walker job for almost 4 years and it's the best thing in the world. For me, it's not work at all.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and best wishes! :)
Very cool! I can't wait to "hear" more about it on your blog!

That's so great! I hope to leads to many wonderful things.
ReplyDeleteHi hi hi! Ojo here! Hurray! Congratulations!!! You are already a pawesome trainer, they are lucky to have you! But now the hard part comes... Training Dogs is easy... Training humans is much harder!
ReplyDeletePee Ess Our person does this job too! She too started as an apprentice, a volunteer actually, and she learned more and more, and went to seminars and workshops, and started teaching, and gathered hours and experience, and wrote a big exam.... And she loves her job!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is heartbreaking, such as when a person's mind cannot be changed and they decide to continue to jerk and flatten their dog even as it becomes increasingly aggressive.... And sometimes it is frustrating, such as when a person picks a dog that is not a good match, like the eighty-five-year-old, very sedentary woman who brings home an Australian Shepherd puppy and doesn't understand why he is going crazy sitting around in the house all day...
But most of the time it is amazing and joyful and reinforcing. Like when someone decides to be open to change how they train their dogs and tries hard to learn a new way. Or when someone comes in with their first ever puppy, confused and frustrated but loving the little creature anyways, and then suddenly they start learning how to connect and learn together. Or watching an eleven-year-old autistic boy light up when he successfully teaches his dog a new behaviour. Or being able to shift, even a little bit, people's perceptions of their relationships with their dogs, and thereby making a dog life even a teeny, tiny bit better.
One person can make big changes. We look forward to seeing what changes you make! Hurray!
Pee Pee Ess When I said that training dogs is "easy", I meant in comparison to the people! Some of the tricks that Zoe and Phoenix know are really, really hard! And helping Dogs who are scared, that can be really hard too! (But still easier often than training people! BOL.)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new job...that is so exciting! I hope you'll be telling us more about how it goes.
