The Sun Came Out!

The sun finally came out and we were all pretty excited about that! Last week I had mentioned that we found some unused trails to run around on sort of near the river by my house. These trails are not popular so we have not seen a single person or dog on them!

The trails are very woodsy and not groomed. It was pretty fun pushing our way through the bushes here or there and the dogs loved running around on them!

From the trails, we made our way down to the river. We let both dogs wade into the river but we didn't allow them to swim at all. I'm not quite ready to let Phoenix swim again after our last incident where she got too cold.

Other "Fit Dog" things we've been doing, a lot of leash walks, fetch at the school by our apartment and I've also started jogging with them, too. I hate jogging and I'm not loving it so I might have to figure something else out. I'm not sure yet but I've been doing it really late at night so I don't have to worry about any dog/dog interactions or having to pull cheese out to counter condition. We can just exercise in peace.

I haven't had a whole lot of time for hiking since I started working and we haven't really wanted to expose Phoenix to new dogs at Thousand Acres, since we are working on her dog/dog issues, so we've been doing a lot of other stuff. On nights where Phoenix goes to class, we show up an hour early and walk around that neighborhood and then we go in the building and play fetch for a half hour. Phoenix has really been enjoying her training classes and one on one time. Zoe will probably be going to training class pretty regularly as a demo dog, too. We've got so much going on right now but at least it gives me a lot to write about!

I'm pretty sad that this is the last Fit Dog Friday hop but I am planning to keep all of you guys updated on our "fit dog" stuff and adventures. I will most likely continue those posts on Fridays because that day seems to work well for them. Thanks so much to the hosts for introducing me to so many great ideas for fitness for my girls! I have really enjoyed the posts over these past two years!

  1. Thanks for being a loyal hop blogger. We know you and the girls will continue to stay fit and we look forward to reading your fitness posts in the future.

  2. I'm sad about the hop ending too, but still look forward to seeing your adventures. Looks like the pups are loving those trails!

  3. Thanks to you for being such a regular contributor to the Hop. We've loved seeing the girls each week and following their fit routines. They sure look pretty happy with that new trail!

  4. How fun and the sunshine is the very best part. You've had nothing but rain for days and days.

I love how you make sure the girls have lots of things to do. It's a good thing.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. My best to the girls. ☺

  5. So that hop is ending? Is it being replaced with a different hop?

  6. You girls have been busy! I'm glad you've been able to find some secluded spots to let the girls have fun. I feel you on the jogging--it's been months since we took a break from couch to 5k because of the cold and ice and now that spring's here, I'm trying to decide if I want to give it a go again or not. I'm leaning towards not, but it is good exercise, so . . . I guess we'll see.

  7. Yay for sun! Could you share some with us, please? :p We're in the middle of a massive wash of thunderstorms!

  8. Glad to hear that you've been keeping active and busy and have been finding some new places to hike. Sounds like fun!

  9. OMD, looks like you gurls had lots of funs on the hike and the fields! And most of glads you got some sunshine!!!! butts, at least thingies are nice and green, right? ☺
Glads you are lovin' class! Did I tells you I got kicked outta training class as a wee lass? Yuppers, I embarrassed Ma sooo much! BOL!!!
    Ruby ♥

  10. It's so fun to find new places to walk and play, especially when you can have them all to yourself! It sounds like you are definitely keeping busy and have lots you're working on. We look forward to continuing to hear about it all!

  11. Hi hi hi! Ojo here! Hurray for sun! Cobi gets that same happy look on her face in the sunshine too! I always have that happy look on my face! (Unless I have to stop running to pose for pictures.) Training classes are fun too! Keep having fun, friends!
