Hiking Mt. Tabor!

We recently went hiking over at Mt. Tabor, it's an old dormant volcano that overlooks Portland. They've turned it into a really nice park and it also has a bunch of reservoirs that house most of the city's water supply.

It's a volcano/mountain so there are a lot of stairs to climb! We generally park about half way up and then we can either go down or up and it's not that big of a deal to get back to the car after we've worn ourselves out.

We had a good time but the day was filled with a lot of frustration. I've honestly never seen so many illegal off leash dogs at one time in one place in my life. We saw around 15 off leash dogs!!! It was absolutely insane. I would of called them in but I don't think the city patrols on Sundays.

Even though it was very frustrating and a bunch of dogs did end up running up to us, Phoenix did so awesome! She didn't get snarky at all. She was so good and I was really happy with how relaxed she was.

I really like Mt. Tabor, it's a beautiful park with gorgeous views of the city and I would go again, I just really wish the city would patrol on the weekends!

  1. It looks like a really cool place to check out.

  2. You're braver than I am. If I saw that many off-leash dogs, I would be crossing that place off our list of places to visit very quickly! I'm glad that Phoenix handled it so well.

    1. We definitely will not be going back on the weekend!!! Weekdays is where it's at with the parks around here, for sure. It was just one of those rare days where we were like let's go hike this park. We've been there on weekdays and it wasn't that bad.

  3. Your girls are so photogenic. They really are.

I'm glad you didn't have any problems with the off leash dogs. Shame on those folks for allowing their dogs to run free.

Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your mom. ☺

  4. Lovely pictures as always! It's great that Phoenix was so good too; it was probably a little tempting to be bad with so many off-leash dogs just running around.

  5. Off leash pups are my momma's pet peeve - grrr!

  6. What a gorgeous place!

One of my biggest pet peeves is illegally off leash dogs. With mine being so small, it scares the shit out of me. I always picture some dog grabbing mine, shaking them, and killing them. It's awful!

  7. These are really beautiful shots! I can't believe a reservoir can be so pretty! That stinks about the off leash dogs, but I'm so happy that Phoenix did great despite that! She's doing so well, my dogs would not have done that well with off leash dogs running around. You should call them anyway and let them know that on Sundays its a free for all, maybe they'll put a guard out. Awesome photos!!

  8. We have a mountain in our town that is such a beautiful hike, but there are just so many off leash dogs on it that I won't take mine there (not until I can work with Luke and Cricket on it more). :( It's too bad when people can't just follow the rules.
PS...such beautiful photos of the girls!
