Arm and Hammer "Clump and Seal" Review

Today I am reviewing Arm & Hammer "Clump and Seal" cat litter. Anyone who has or had cats can probably relate to my struggle with finding a good cat litter. Hurley has had behavioral as well as medical urinary issues before in addition to him having asthma. Finding a litter that agrees with him health and behavior wise has been really difficult. We've been searching and trying different brands and types for around 5 years now. To say he is a problem child would be a massive understatement! :)

Enter Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal!!! (Multi cat formula) This stuff is amazing. We decided to try it a few months ago when we got a coupon for it and we have been buying it in bulk whenever it goes on sale or we find more coupons. This is the HOLY GRAIL of cat litters. No joke. I can not say enough good things about this litter. Especially after trying pretty much every cat litter on the market including the expensive "World's Best Cat Litter". While that litter is nice, we can't afford it having three cats and 4-5 litter boxes.

The first thing I noticed about the litter is that it has a very, very light scent to it. It's very gentle, not over-powering like most litter. It does not bother me and I am really sensitive to smells. Scented litter can usually induce a headache instantly. Not this litter!

It has very little to no dust to it. This is so important because Hurley has asthma and some of the other cat litter we've tried has really bothered him. He's had some pretty severe upper respiratory issues that have been further aggravated by some litters, especially scented ones. Since we started using this litter he has not had a single asthma attack or any other issues. He is even breathing better.

The litter is very low in tracking. We rarely notice any tracked litter. Before when using other brands, there was cat litter on the stairs on a daily basis. Not anymore! It doesn't even cling to Pandora's soft fur. Which means she's not ingesting it. It's also very soft which is more attractive to the cats, too.

It clumps. The clumps are pretty solid, too.. I can't stand it when clumps fall apart when I scoop.. It can be such a gross and disgusting mess when that happens. These clumps very rarely fall apart. I've noticed it will happen if I scoop too soon after someone's used the box and it hasn't hardened completely yet. It's rare, though!

Odors are sealed and destroyed. Both urine and feces. There is no litter box smell in our house. Which is important because my father-in-law does not like cats and does not like cat smells. He is usually away for work during the week and when he comes home he can't smell cats. It's awesome. Arm and Hammer guarantees no odor for 7 days, but it actually lasts much longer than that if you scoop regularly. I scoop 2-3 times per week.

You can get this litter everywhere, which is important because we live in a very rural area and the closest pet store is 40 minutes away. The litter is not very expensive. You can also get a $3 off coupon if you go to their website. I believe we payed $15 for 30lbs of it. Compared to World's Best which is around $40+ for that much litter.

I will totally continue to buy this litter. This stuff is absolutely awesome. All three of the cats like it. If you have multiple cats you know how hard it is to get them to agree on anything!! Hurley is doing really well on it and hasn't had any regular accidents since we switched to it. I give it 5 stars!

  1. OMD! This stuff sounds great!!!!! I have 3 kitties as well, and the litter box smells much less than appealing, that's for sure! Thanks for a great product!

  2. We don't have cats (boyfriend is allergic) but I'll keep this in mind for when we buy donations for the shelter.

  3. That's what my sister uses for her cats (three adults and a kitten, 2 mutts and 2 Ragdolls) and she raves about it.

  4. I really like the consistency of the litter - more like sand, but I really couldn't handle the fragrance. My litter box is in my room, I ended up switching back to odorless fresh step. If they made a fragrance free I'd totally go back to that stuff - it's definitely the best clumping/lowest tracking!

    1. Yeah, for sure! I wish they'd make a scent free, too.. Even though the scent doesn't bother me that much, I do prefer the ones that don't have any.
