We are in Portland Oregon because my husband is trying to get a job here. He had to have a physical and whatnot and once that paperwork goes through we should be able to move! I am so excited!
We decided to go to Pet Expo on Saturday (unfortunately, I was too busy working with Phoenix to get pictures) and later found out that our friends from It's Dog Or Nothing and Tenacious Little Terrier were also at Pet Expo!! We didn't get to see them there but we decided to meet up with them and go to lunch the next day! We had so much fun! We loved meeting everyone!
The girls did really good at Pet Expo. There were a couple of tense moments with Phoenix because she was a little nervous but she was not the worst dog there. We actually had a couple of bad experiences with some very fearful and stressed dogs, one of which came at Phoenix with a full on wide open mouth to bite her. Phoenix just backed away quickly and got away from him. We were both very startled because it came out of nowhere. The dog literally turned around and snapped. She did not react at all the entire time at the expo. Zoe got her tail stepped on, again. Every time we go to Pet Expo someone steps or runs over her tail. She's okay but neither of us were pleased about it.
On Saturday evening, we were super excited because we got to go to dinner at my friend's house and I was so happy to see them. We haven't seen Jeff and Marley in a year and a half. Zoe was over the moon excited to see them!!! Zoe absolutely loves her "Uncle" Jeff and she really missed him while we were in California. Zoe was a little crabby with Jeff's fiance's dog and Phoenix was a little snarky with Marley when he was excited but other than that the visit went really well.
Tired pups in our hotel room!
On Sunday after meeting up with everyone for lunch, we went to one of my favorite parks in the Portland area. The Sandy River Delta aka 1,000 Acre Forest is a wonderful off leash park that is huge. There are lots of wide open spaces, forests and the river. Plenty of room for my girls to stretch their legs. They had a blast running around and they were super excited to be back. We hiked around 4 miles. When we used to live here we'd hike between 5-7 miles! I highly recommend that everyone check out this park if they are visiting the Portland area. It's in Troutdale which isn't too far of a drive out of the city and if you come on a weekday it's pretty quiet. On the weekends there are a lot more people out there with dogs.

We were shocked at how low the river was! That whole background used to be river!

ReplyDeleteYeah it was fun! Thank you! I wish you lived closer, too!!
DeleteHow fun that you got to meet some other bloggers! Great pictures - your girls are SO lucky to be able to run free. I don't know that Ruby will ever be trustworthy off leash. Boca is going to an off-leash park this weekend, I will have to scope it out before deciding if she can be loose.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was so much fun! We do have some issues sometimes with Zoe. We are very selective where we allow her to run free. Troutdale is one of those areas that doesn't have very many game animals. Mostly birds and gardener snakes. She doesn't go for either. Phoenix is very iffy with dogs but she's actually better behaved off the leash.
DeleteHope you had luck finding an apartment and we look forward to meeting up with you again!
