Can I pet your dog?

How about NO.

Short answer, "Nope!".

Recently I saw a post on a dog forum that annoyed me. It went something along the lines of "If your dog doesn't like children you should never take him out or let her off leash." Yeah, because staying at home will get them used to stuff! Big SIGH. It was interesting because the whole conversation of the thread was revolving around dog parks. Most dog parks are not safe places for dogs let alone little kids but that's a post for another time.

Too HOT for Mischief!

It's way too hot for any sort of mischief! We've had upper 90s all week and our apartment hasn't really cooled below 80 degrees. That is really hot for the Pacific Northwest. The average temperatures for this time of year is 75-80. This coming week we're supposed to have triple digit weather and no one is looking forward to that.

Both of the girls are hot and sleepy. As you can see Phoenix is getting ready for our party on Saturday! She was trying on her beads and fell asleep!

I hope everyone has an awesome week! Stay cool!

Sitting Pretty! B&W Sunday

This has been Zoe's go-to begging trick lately. I'm not sure I love the composition on this one but it's still a funny shot. It's really hard to get nice "sit pretty" photos so I'll take it!

Celebration!

We would like to invite everyone to our 1st Blog Anniversary on July 4th! We're having a party and  also hosting a multi brand giveaway! It's going to be so fun!

Yesterday we took the girls to the river and I got a video of Phoenix swimming! She's doing so well and I'm thrilled with her progress! When we got her almost 3 years ago she would barely touch a puddle with her paws and now she's swimming. I'm so proud of her!

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend! Stay cool!

Freedom Harness Review

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having an awesome Fit Dog Friday! Today I am so excited to share our review on the Freedom Harness from 2 Hounds Design! As you all know walking can be great exercise for you and your dog but when they pull it can be so frustrating! There are many challenges in leash walking and if your dog is reactive like mine and you're walking on a regular collar they could slip out of it or they could pull the leash right out of your hand! Not only that, it can really hurt their throat and the surrounding tissue when they pull. Contrary to popular belief, dog throats are very sensitive, just like ours! (See this article for more info on neck sensitivity) For that reason, I prefer using harnesses when we go on leash walks. The Freedom Harness is an awesome tool that helps provide extra control, while also being extremely comfortable to wear and allows the dog to move naturally. ZoePhee was given two Freedom Harnesses with their "training package" (training leashes included) in exchange for an honest review but we were not monetarily compensated.

Zoe & Phoenix meet Ava!

On Tuesday, the girls and I went to meet my friend at Thousand Acres! My friend just got a new dog and her name is Ava! She's a six month old mix breed from a rescue in central Oregon.

Weed Portrait!

I bet this wasn't what you were thinking it was! (Especially since marijuana will be legal in Oregon this week, haha! No, I'm not planning on getting any!) Oh the spam this post is probably going to generate! :D

Happy Wordless Wednesday, everyone! I hope you have an awesome day!

It's Getting HOT!

The pacific northwest is going to have the first real heatwave coming up this week with temperatures being around 100. I'm so NOT looking forward to it. I tend to favor the cooler weather of Spring and Fall. Usually the PNW doesn't heat up this much so it's just weird to me. When we originally moved here we moved because it was a more mild climate. Most people here don't have air conditioning and we don't, either! I'm really hoping that the heatwave doesn't stick around too long! The poor girls are still having some skin issues but I'm probably going to break out the cooling coats anyways. We don't usually take walks during the middle of the day and with this heat we will probably be sticking to either early morning or late night walks. I'm also thinking about making them some sort of pupsicle type treat, too!

How are you and your pups coping with heat? Let me know in the comments below!

SPARCS Conference

This weekend there wasn't a whole lot of mischief going on for us! We stayed home, parked in front of the computer watching the FREE stream of the SPARCS Conference! Even though I didn't have any mischief going on, they sure did at the conference! On the first day, after lunch, they were evacuated from the building! There was a problem with the sprinklers and it caused the fire alarms to go off! Everyone was okay and the conference continued the next day in a different hall.

Squinting at Sunset! B&W Sunday

Here's another daisy photo! The girls could probably use some sun glasses!
We've been going to the park a lot at sunset and I'm really enjoying the light at that time!

Searching for the Bunny on Fit Dog Friday

We've kept our workouts mostly to Thousand Acres this week. I think it's interesting that the taller the grass grows the more the girls have to really bounce to look for bunnies. They are using different muscles and the grass provides resistance as they run through it.

Anxiety Wrap Review

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having an awesome day! Today I have a review for you! Recently we were given the opportunity to try out The Anxiety Wrap by the Company of Animals. If you've visited us before you might remember that Zoe has a terrible noise phobia. It started the year we got her with the 4th of July and has progressively gotten worse from there. Sometimes even our neighbors banging around upstairs can cause her to get upset and she will also get upset over me doing laundry. The spin cycle with the washer shaking freaks her out. We've tried all sorts of calming aids before and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. It just depends on the severity of the noise. I really like the idea of the Anxiety Wrap and I've heard that it works wonders for some dogs.

Nutramax Cosequin Minis Soft Chews Review

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an awesome day! It's time for our monthly chewy.com review! If you didn't know, chewy.com is an amazing company that ships your favorite pet products right to your door! They have amazing customer service and their shipping is incredibly fast. We are frequent customers! Today we are reviewing Nutramax Cosequin Minis Soft Chews Joint Health Small Dog Supplement. Since both of my dogs are really active I feel that supplementing is beneficial even if I don't see results it makes me feel better that I'm doing something for their joints. We received our Cosequin Mini treats in exchange for an honest review.

Not A Retriever!

Even though I've taught both of my dogs how to retrieve stuff, sometimes because they have minds of their own, they don't always follow through. Recently Phoenix has been running off with her sticks instead of bringing them back! I think it's probably because other dogs keep trying to steal them from her. It's not a big deal and there will always be more sticks! It's pretty funny though!

Here is a video I posted on instagram of Phoenix running off with her stick!

Silly Faces! Sisters on Saturday

So who do you think has the silliest face today? Zoe on the left or Phoenix on the right? Does your dog make silly faces, too? Zoe always seems to make some sort of weird face when I point a camera at her! It can take some time to actually get a cute photo where she's actually looking at me!

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Rough Week and Sunset Walks!

If you read my post from yesterday: Skin Infection Woes you'll know we've had a pretty rough week! Poor Phoenix was covered in hives and not feeling her best. I decided that we would take it easy on the exercise so that she could rest and heal. We mostly kept it to leash walks and naps until Wednesday and Thursday evenings when she was feeling better. We decided to take a couple of shorter sunset walks out at Thousand Acres. Thursday evening we even ran into one of our friends so that was pretty cool! Zoe and Phoenix enjoy spending time with Lucy the golden retriever.

Skin Infection Woes. Dog Grooming

On Friday of last week Zoe rolled in coyote poo, right after I told Mr. N's mom that they hardly ever do that, well Phoenix never has but now that I've said that she probably will... Don't you love it when dogs make you into liars? Yeah fun. Anyways, I don't do stinky dogs so we came home and immediately jumped into the tub. I wash both dogs at the same time because they both fit and it's just easier. I decided to use a sample of shampoo that I got a while ago (I have used this shampoo before without issues), washed them, dried them and called it a day. On Saturday we didn't go anywhere because it was so hot and Thousand Acres on the weekends is just a pain. So we stayed home, did some photo shoots and played in the dog park at my apartment complex. By Sunday morning we woke up and Phoenix was covered in hives. I'm assuming it probably started on Saturday but was so mild that it wasn't noticeable.

Wisdom Panel 3.0

This post is sponsored by Mars Veterinary "Wisdom Panel 3.0" and I am being compensated to spread the word about Wisdom Panel. ZoePhee only shares information that is relevant to our readers.

Have you ever wondered what breed of dog your pup is? I know I have. We've thought about it a lot and have definitely considered getting dna testing done. We've heard everything from chihuahua to basenji and everything in between! Not knowing what they are can sometimes be a little scary because you never know what sort of genetic issues may come up. Knowing specific breed information can be a huge help when it comes to the proper nutrition, training and overall healthcare of your pet. Plus, understanding the breeds that make up your furry family member enables targeted care and in some cases provides lifesaving information.

Bravo! Freeze Dried Raw Dog Food Review

Summer is here! I know it's not officially summer until the end of the month but the weather here has done a complete turnaround and we are in the middle of a heat wave! With everyone taking off on fun summer adventures I thought I'd share one of my favorite ways to feed my dogs when we travel! Both of my girls are very picky eaters when we go on vacation. They are a bit out of their element and routine and a bit stressed. Plain old kibble is not what's on the menu! They usually refuse to touch their food if I try to give them kibble. Bravo! to the rescue! This food is pretty awesome. It's freeze dried raw and all you have to do is add warm water to it. The girls absolutely love it!

Respecting Our Fellow Dog Owners. Give Dogs Space!

I think there's a dog in my butt.

The girls didn't really get into much mischief over the past week so instead I'm going to share with you an incident we had, my biggest pet peeves about other dog owners and tips on what to do if you have a "friendly dog" and you encounter other dog owners.

Book Review: "Grow Young with Your Dog"

Hi everyone! Before I get into today's post, I just wanted to thank all of you for stopping by yesterday and wishing my husband a Happy Birthday! He didn't get any messages from his friends and all of your messages really made his day. Thank you so much!

Happy Fit Dog Friday! Today I have a book review for you! Now I know it seems a bit odd that I would do a book review on a day dedicated to talking about exercise but this book is all about exercises you can do with your dog to help you both move better and feel younger! I was pretty excited when the opportunity came up to review this book. As you all know my dogs are very active and when we go to the off leash park they run really hard. I want to be able to keep them as young as possible for as long as possible and keep them doing the things they love to do. This book is an amazing read and I'm so happy to share it with everyone! I received the book in exchange for an honest review but I am not being monetarily compensated for sharing it.

Happy Birthday to the Dog Dad!

Today is my husband's birthday! He's turning 31! Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better guy. He is amazing and so tolerant of all my crazy dog stuff! He is the best dog dad to my dogs. He makes sure that he spends time with them every day and even makes an effort to train them. I'm so happy and lucky to have him in my life. Since today is his birthday, I decided to share some of my favorite "Doggie Daddy" moments with all of you!

Training Multiple Dogs - Positive Reinforcement Pet Training

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great day! We actually got that rain storm I was telling you all about! Since it's pouring outside I decided that I'm going to share some tips for teaching multiple dogs to settle and to take turns being trained. That way you can train two dogs at once without being interrupted! This is great for teaching dogs to control their impulses.

Training multiple dogs at the same time can be challenging but it doesn't have to be if you set them up for success and prevent unwanted behavior by proofing. When we got Phoenix I knew that we were going to have a lot of stuff to work on but there was also Zoe to consider as well. Zoe loves her training sessions and I would still need to work with her, too.

Coats By De "Cool Coats" Review

Hi everyone! Happy Monday Mischief to you! As you all know, my dogs are pretty good at making mischief. They love to run and play and sometimes hide from me in the name of hunting bunnies. The girls can be pretty intense about their exercise and as the weather warms up that intensity is a bit of a concern for me. 85% of the park that we go to is in full sun. Not only that, it doesn't even have to be warm out for Phoenix to get really hot from being overly excited. Additionally, we don't have air conditioning in our apartment. So I was very excited when De contacted me about reviewing two of her Custom Made Cool Coats! We received our cooling coats in exchange for an honest review but we were not monetarily compensated.
